UNWANTED LONELINESS

The CASA Project seeks to improve the quality of life of older adults through social integration and mutual support.


What does it consist of?

AMAFE's Care and Support in Loneliness project is based on the growing need for care for older adults in the Ciudad Lineal district who experience unwanted loneliness. It also considers part of AMAFE's social base, comprised of older adults who have dedicated themselves to caring for their disabled family member and find themselves isolated and with little social network.


The CASA project is based on research that demonstrates how social support and community participation contribute to improving quality of life, reducing feelings of loneliness, and fostering social integration and emotional well-being.

The objectives of the project

The CASA project seeks to:


  • Promote support networks to address the unwanted loneliness of older adults to improve their quality of life by encouraging citizen participation in community activities and socializing older adults with each other and others in their communities, in coordination with the various stakeholders involved.


  • Conduct awareness-raising activities to promote volunteering and recruit social workers among citizens to identify situations of loneliness among older adults.


  • Provide emotional and affective support to older adults at risk or experiencing feelings of emotional or relational loneliness, using various methods.
