30th Anniversary of AMAFE

TOMAFE has celebrated its 30th anniversary at the hands of those who, every day, make the entity bigger. There were more than 200 people who wanted to join us in the celebration of an anniversary that has been full of emotion and that, as we already told you, was very participatory. The opening of the act, by Amalia Catalá, President of AMAFE, and Abelardo Rodríguez, Head of the Regional Mental Health Coordination Office of the Community of Madrid,gave way to a journey in which the past, present and future were discussed and in which we were also able to enjoy music thanks to Dr. Carolina Peláez and the pianist Beatriz Miralles.
ANDhe trip began with Alejandro Blanco, founding partner of AMAFE, who helped us learn about the beginnings of the Association, giving us a more historical perspective. Next, we were able to listen to Dr. Mariano Hernández, a renowned psychiatrist and honorary member of AMAFE, who helped us understand the changes that have occurred in care throughout the Association's 30-year history. The table ended by the hand of Bárbara López, current member of the Board of Directors who put the detail in the present of the Association.


And the time has come to talk about art beyond difficulties in which we could listen to the history of musicians, writers and painters accompanied by the piano. A very exciting presentation that taught us a lot about Virginia Woolf or Vincent Van Gogh.
ANDWe reached the end of the trip with the analysis of the results obtained in the questions that were asked to the public at the beginning of the day. The questions dealt with future challenges in healthcare, the socio-community environment, stigma, the future of AMAFE and other issues. These challenges were answered by Abelardo Rodríguez, Technical Coordinator of the Social Care Network for people with Mental Illness, Mercedes Navío, Head of the Regional Mental Health Coordination Office of the Community of Madrid and Ana Cabrera, Director of AMAFE. In the coming weeks we will be able to give you a detailed analysis of all the results.
